Scarless Breast Augmentation

September 26th, 2008

What exactly is “scarless” breast augmentation? Okay, so we admit that it is impossible to have absolutely no scar from a procedure that requires an incision or two. When the skin is broken, a scar always results, whether it be from cutting into the skin, a scraping it or burning it. If the incision heals properly, the scar fades and thins, becoming a light line that may have a raised texture.

However, when placed in a very strategic location that minimizes the appearance of the scar so much so that it is almost impossible to see with the naked eye, then that’s when it’s “scarless”. And that’s what Dr. Behnaz Yazdanfar, the primary physician at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, does.

Scarless breast augmentation basically provides the patient with a result that’s quite desirable, since it augments the breasts but the surgery doesn’t leave an obvious scar.

The most common incision placement used by Dr. Yazdanfar is periareolar. For those of us who don’t know what that means, it’s basically an incision placed partially around the areola. Because the areola is darker than the surrounding skin, discolouration is not visible. The scar may also be textured, however it’s well hidden by the slightly bumpy texture of the edge of the areola.

Other incision sites may also be used to achieve similar results, including through the armpit and through the belly button.
