Scarless Breast Augmentation
September 26th, 2008 by admin
What exactly is “scarless” breast augmentation? Okay, so we admit that it is impossible to have absolutely no scar from a procedure that requires an incision or two. When the skin is broken, a scar always results, whether it be from cutting into the skin, a scraping it or burning it. If the incision heals properly, the scar fades and thins, becoming a light line that may have a raised texture.
However, when placed in a very strategic location that minimizes the appearance of the scar so much so that it is almost impossible to see with the naked eye, then that’s when it’s “scarless”.
Scarless breast augmentation basically provides the patient with a result that’s quite desirable, since it augments the breasts but the surgery doesn’t leave an obvious scar.
The most common incision placement used is periareolar. For those of us who don’t know what that means, it’s basically an incision placed partially around the areola. Because the areola is darker than the surrounding skin, discolouration is not visible. The scar may also be textured, however it’s well hidden by the slightly bumpy texture of the edge of the areola.
Other incision sites may also be used to achieve similar results, including through the armpit and through the belly button.

Breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic procedure in North America for women, right under liposuction. But not everyone supports a woman’s choice to improve the aesthetic desirability of their body contour.
In England back in the winter of 2007, the husband of a woman who wanted to undergo breast augmentation was kidnapped from the hospital where she was going to have the procedure performed after he couldn’t talk her out of it. He also threatened to kill her.
James McCarthy was charged with kidnapping his wife and sentenced. The wife was also found to have a black eye when she entered the hospital for the scheduled procedure.

Breast Implants for Breast Augmentation
March 24th, 2007 by admin
Breast augmentation has come a long way since its shady past: a dangerous elective surgical procedure performed by unskilled and inexperienced doctors in some back alley.
These days, you’ll find excellent resources and information regarding everything about the cosmetic surgical procedure of breast augmentation, presented in a frank and honest manner. From the first steps of the consultation process with a cosmetic surgeon to recovery and taking care of your new image, breast augmentation is a viable solution for women who are unhappy with the size of their breasts.
Breast augmentation enhances the feminine contour of a woman’s body with the help of breast implants. Originally, breast augmentation was a painful and barbaric procedure, involving simply an injection of silicone into the breast area to increase their size (this occurred in the 1930-1940s). Since the silicone was not inside a secure casing, women suffered serious complications, some even fatal.
Today’s breast implants have been designed to be a pliable sac filled with liquid or gel. They confrom to the natural shape of the breast, and maintain their shape while in place, resulting in a desirable overall body contour. They are also constructed so that they resemble how an actual breast would feel. Therefore, both the casing, or shell, as well as the filling contribute to the results.
Women interested in undergoing breast augmentation should be aware of the options available to them when choosing breast implants. Silicone or saline filled, textured or smooth – there’s a lot out there to consider before making a choice so it’s up to the patient to decide what is most suitable.

Making the Right Choice

A Bigger Bust: From Creams, lotions, pills…?
There’s a lot of stuff out there to help you increase the size of your breasts. Marketed for breast enlargement or breast augmentation, does any of that stuff really work? Well, it may, but their ingredients could also pose a serious risk to your health.
Most remedies claim to increase bust size by stimulating the body to release natural hormones. Beware that this upsets the natural balance of hormones in the body. Stimulants are derived from organic ingredients, such as herbs, or from a chemical and synthetic blend. These hormones contribute to the development of fatty tissue in the breasts, which make them grow over a short or long period of time – the exact length of time cannot be predetermined or guaranteed, as it depends on an individual’s body and how it reacts to the remedy. However, as most tend to be taken without medical supervision, this could be dangerous or may not even work for some women. Further, the actual increase cannot be measured; as a result, the desired size may not be achieved (it may be smaller or larger than what you hoped for).
Unpredictable growth, lack of medical supervision, lengthy waiting time before results (if any) appear. This doesn’t sound good for women who want to increase their bust size. The cosmetic surgical procedure, breast augmentation, may be a better solution.
Breast Augmentation and Cosmetic Surgery
Compared to those magical potions and pills, breast augmentation by cosmetic surgery is a better solution to those who prefer more dependable results. Because you are able to choose the size of breast implants, you’ll be able to predict the size of your breasts following surgery better. Each step, from consultation to preparing for the surgery, to recovery and even long after, are all monitored by an experienced physician and cosmetic surgeon. As a result, you’ll be in a better situation and won’t be alone to handle any unexpected surprises if they happen to occur, at a much faster rate. More information onbreast augmentation.

Popular Breast Implant Maker, Mentor
March 2nd, 2007 by admin
Headquartered in Santa Barbara, California, Mentor has been manufacturing implants for breast augmentation for over thirty years. Both their saline and silicone breast implants are produced exclusively in Europe and the United States, and are recognized throughout the world as being only of the highest quality and construction.
In Canada, Mentor offers both types of breast implants: saline and silicone.
Silicone Breast Implants Okay in Canada?
For about 13 years, Health Canada had banned the use of silicone breast implants, deeming them unsafe for the public. However, late last year, Health Canada finally removed the ban, and Mentor received licensing to provide silicone breast implants to the public market. The FDA followed suit shortly after.
Why Mentor?
Clinical research and extensive studies conducted by Mentor had shown that the risk of health problems related to the existence of silicone breast implants in women was reasonably safe. Evidence also showed that fatal illnesses and cancer were not related to silicone breast implants. However, this licensing is conditional, as Mentor must still provide further evidence of the safety of silicone breast implants. This evidence includes results from long term studies and clinical trials as well as details on labelling and advertising.
Many cosmetic surgeons in North America and Europe consider Mentor silicone breast implants superior due to their durable construction, without compromising their natural feel and appearance.
Three types of a patented silicone cohesive gel, called Memory Gel™, are offered. Ranging in firmness, this type of gel retains the natural shape and feel of the breast. Many women and cosmetic surgeons find that silicone breast implants achieve better aesthetic results than saline breast implants. It is highly recommended that before making a decision, you speak with a cosmetic surgeon or specialist. They will assess your body type and consider the goals of your breast augmentation procedure to help you make the right decision. For more information on breast augmentation and breast implants.
